About
The 9th annual Publishing Innovation Conference takes place at the London College of Communication on the 7th of March 2013 and is organised by MA Publishing students.
Sponsored by Macmillan, the annual conference brings renowned speakers, publishing industry professionals and alumni with students who wish to engage with the issues over an afternoon and evening of lectures, presentations, debates and, this year, workshops.
THIS IS NOT___ sets out to challenge preconceived ideas of professional roles and traditional platforms. Focusing on content, creativity and the blurring boundaries of the industry, it will pose questions such as: What is an author? Who is the publisher? Is the page relevant in the digital age? What do the consumers think of and get from new platforms?
The publishing industry is changing, bringing challenges but also many opportunities to the cultural landscapes. This is not publishing. This is not a publisher. This is not an author. This is not a page. This is not a book. This is not a magazine. THIS IS NOT A PUBLISHING CONFERENCE.
Centered around an interactive workshop, two panels will discuss the idea of creator and what is now considered a platform, respectively. This year speakers are industry professional who will bring their own experience, point of view and questions to the table.
London College of Communication is very close to the Elephant & Castle underground stations (Northern and Bakerloo lines) and is just a short cab or bus ride from Waterloo station.
